RACING THE LIMFJORDEN RUNDT
8TH - 14TH SEPTEMBER 2025
Sail with Excelsior in the Limfjorden Rundt 2025. It's one of the Nordic region's biggest races for wooden sailing ships and we are very excited to be taking part once more. About 65 former commercial vessels join in, visiting the harbours of Løgstør, Thisted, Struer, Nykøbing Mors, Fur and Skive around the spectacular Limfjord in Denmark. Most of the participating boats are Danish, Norwegian or Swedish, so this is a brilliant opportunity to bask in Scandinavian culture and party Nordic-style in each port. There are no tides or large swell in the Limfjord, so you will experience dreamy flat-water sailing and an incredible view of the other ships as we jostle for place in the tight fjords. It's an experience like no other. You'll have loads of fun, make lots of international friends, experience community festivities and enjoy the scenery of one of the prettiest parts of Denmark.
This trip is more geared at over 18s, but is suitable for any age 14+
RACING THE LIMFJORDEN RUNDT
NORTH SEA NAVIGATIONAL TRAINING EXPEDITION
15th - 26th September 2025
This is Excelsior's last big trip of the season, from the Danish Limfjord back home to Lowestoft. We'll start in Skive, a picturesque Danish harbour in the middle of the beautiful Limfjord, and then make our choices depending on the weather. This trip is designed to develop the navigational skills of the crew, as we work together to decide, according to the forecasts and charts, the best route home to Lowestoft. Everyone on board will have the opportunity to make a passage plan, under the guidance of our qualified professionals, and grow their capacities be it working towards an RYA certificate such as Day Skipper or Yachtmaster, or just for their own personal development. This is an excellent mile-builder and training exercise for those looking to take their seamanship to the next level. You'll also learn important skills such as provisioning and meal planning for a longer voyage, leadership (everyone will have the chance to lead their watch), and the planning required to take into account the quirks of a traditional rig. We'll also train for various manoeuvres involving a traditional set-up like Excelsior's. This voyage will include both tidal and non-tidal waters, night passages, and a North Sea crossing.
Suitable for adults and young people aged 15+
